What?

Okay, the last couple of days, there seems to have been several people trying to convert people to communism here on GiantBomb.  
 
And I've had enough of it.  
 
I don't care if you people think that countries like the Soviet Union or the People's Republic of China were/are not "true communist" countries. The fact of the matter is that they tried to be communist, and they failed miserably. And why is that?  
 
Because communism is fundamentally  broken. It relies on people being "equal," but by the very definition of what a government is, people can't be equal. Why? Because anything on a scale bigger than a village is going to wind up with people in charge of the government, be they mayors, governors, presidents, whatever. On a large scale, decisions cannot be made by the people as a whole, because nothing would ever get done, thus there has to be a group of people who make governmental decisions, and thus these people are not equal to those they rule over. 
 
And really, do you honestly expect those people to make decisions that are going to be in the best interest of everyone? It didn't happen in the USSR, and it doesn't even happen in countries like the USA.  
 
So please, for the love of Tesla, give it up. Communism is no better than what we have today. And in all honestly, I'd much rather have a system where most people are screwed, but if you work hard enough/get lucky you can rise to the upper classes, than a system where unless you're born into the governing class you're screwed.

I seriously doubt anyone was trying to convert anyone, it really didn't seem like it to me. Besides.. it was two threads, bro. Get over it.

We don't care about communism and political theory, I learned that myself and I shut the fark up (Until I'm called upon in very specific threads, like an addict, I can always use an extra hit). God damn communists.

You don't understand the concept of communism or the history behind it, ie. there has never been an actual communist society ever realised on Earth. People forget, or simply don't know, that despite the Soviet Russian regime disengaging from the first World War they were invaded by imperialist armies attempting to wipe the revolution off the face of the earth. The end result of this was a Stalinist hard-line deviation due to the hostile geopolitical situation. In other words, unless the revolution is global, Marxist countries have a difficult time surviving because countries like the US are unscrupulous in pursuing their aims. Both Cuba and Venezuela for instance have had to adopt increasingly authoritarian tactics in order to deal with outside capitalist pressure. In any case, Soviet Russia and China only paid/pay lip-service to Marxist ideology, whilst being authoritarian in practice. Although China has government-owned businesses, it has blatantly accomodated itself to the private sector, ie. capitalism, for god's sake. To call it communist is a misuse of language.

I'm not a communist (socialist actually, though that'll probably scare you enough) and I have some friends that grew up in communist countries that are no longer communist, there is both good and bad things to say for it.  Polish communism was pretty effective, as an example.  There's some people now that miss the 'communist days', because at least then everyone would get a job, and unemployment was at an (obviously) all-time low, if not nonexistant.  Are there tradeoffs?  Of course, there was a lot less choice in what form that employment would take, or if you even wanted to be unemployed.   
 
To paint every form of communism with the same brush, is being a bit overgeneralized.  I wouldn't necessarily describe it as the best form of government, but if there IS a communist sect trying to convert people to communist way of thinking, then so what?  You can argue against it, but you shouldn't be saying that they shouldn't be able to argue their point because you disagree with it.

It was when he died when the country went to shit because of the Serbian and Croatian politicians because they made us hate each other with propaganda. But other then that the country was great, the economy, sports, tourism, culture, everything. The thing about commmunism is you have to have a good leader.
