Just a warning for those playing Dark Souls who do not have the DLC yet, the game straight up keeps you out of your save after playing on a console with the DLC.

I accessed no part of the DLC, I was at a middle part of the game. I had forgotten entirely that my friend even had it on his console.

This is kind of a dumb way to handle it, I think. With Dawnguard it just tells you you cannot access the content, which seems logical. Locking me out of my save game until I pay $15 does not seem logical at all.

@Skillface: You actually do have the DLC so long as you downloaded the roughly 300 mb patch that came out the same day as Artorias of the Abyss. That big ass patch actually put the DLC on your hard drive as a compatibility measure. So uh, if it's not there, try re-downloading the patch?

Or you could pay the $15 for Artorias. It is really, really good and well worth the price of admission. Or not.

@Oldirtybearon: I was actually planning on getting it anyway after I had beaten the game. I would buy it now but I need all my money for textbooks right now so it'll be a few weeks, probably. It's just kind of a frustrating situation.

@Skillface: I understand completely. I can't think of a workaround and my Google Fu is not providing any sources or discussion on this problem.

    Sorry dude.

I ran into this same problem with Dragon Age Origins. It would not allow me to access the DLC because it was not on my account, however it was on the console. When I moved the save back to my hard drive it would always give me errors with the save having to do with not having the content. Even copying their account locked DLC to my hard drive so the console situation was identical did not fix it. Was never able to figure it out.....had to restart the game. Hope there is a fix for you for Dark Souls.

@Skillface: Were you transferring the save between consoles using the cloud? I know that on the PS3 version you can only access your cloud save for Dark Souls once every 24 hours. Could that be happening here?
