Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower Review

Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is the fighting game's entry onto the PSP. You'll get to play as one of the many characters of DarkStalkers. Just in case you have no idea what they may be there's a vampire, a werewolf, a frankenstein's monster, a mummy, and many more. Basically think of some of the classic monsters and make them a bit cartoony and there you go. This game, however, is not all that fluffy and nice as most fighting games are. There are several modes to choose from ranging from an exhibition match, vs against a friend (ie PSP to PSP), and a tower mode(you keep the same character and try to make it to the top, but each step the opponent gets tougher).

The graphics fit the PSP, there's nothing really special about them. They do do a good job on making the characters recognizable, but that's only if you know who the characters were in the first place.

The controls have gotten better. I say this because if you played this on the original PSP you probably turned this game in, but if you now play it on the PSP 2000 or the one that is just coming out the 3000 you'll see that the controls are more comfortable now. There of course is a good number of combos you'll need to learn, but once you get a handle on them the fighting really gets good.

This is a good fighting game to have for the PSP, for the most part all the characters are balanced and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Of course with all fighting games if you are not a die-hard fan you might lose interest once you've truly mastered the game, or if you don't have human opponents to spice it up with from time to time. I personally am a fan of the DarkStalker series be it fighting games or anime. I give this game a 7.6 out of 10. I'm not the biggest fighting game person but this in my book is a game to have in your collection.

There has been a hand full of portable fighting games. Darkstalkers is the best so far. This game has plenty of things to keep you occupied on the road, in the bathroom, and even at home. With the controls of the PSP you can set the controls to how you want. This game is packed with fun, and amazing characters with plenty of personality. There are also 3 different fighting modes on this game. First of the three is Arcade. Arcade is the average you pick a character, go through stages until the ...
