While I don't think there's anything nefarious going on here (we all know the current situation in game development and I'm sure that they need the extra time to polish up the game and this is developer driven) this was ultimately Microsoft's decision. They own Arkane and they could have chosen to try to force crunch or throw more contractors at the game or cut content or whatever.
I wouldn't be surprised if part of the decision to push was based on the fact that it's not necessarily in Microsoft's interests to have a big console exclusive drop on PS5 in May, and this may be better for them during the holiday season when they might have counterprogramming.
Again I'm not saying that Microsoft did this as some pure business strategy move, just that it may have influenced the decision.
On the Bombcast the crew joked about the Xbox version of The Show coming out intentionally busted in order to take revenge against MS for the Game Pass scoop. I don't think that will happen either, but I do think it's interesting that Microsoft and Sony remain in competition but are both putting stuff out on the other party's platform and how the decisions may be shaped by that tension.
We're in pretty unprecedented times when it comes to this stuff, and these relationships are all kind of fascinating right now.
