Elective Mode can be found somewhere in your options menu...go turn it on! This will allow you to use any combination of skills in any slot you wish rather than being limited to the defaults. It'll open up builds and progress that were impossible when you were in the default mode. Elective Mode will be especially important when you get up into the higher Torment levels and need more defensive skills than offensive and find yourself lacking the slots to equip them.
