So i fully bought the game the other day, and wouldn't you know it, the Shale DLC expired in April (on the card), so what the hell do i do now? (no not spend 15$ on it)

bummer. you should call or email someone and bitch about it. You'd be surprised how far that can get you.

I would just leave it alone, even though Shale is a quite useful tank it's not worth wasting your time complaining or $15.

The Shale DLC is easily one of the best pieces of DLC made for a game and something you should definitely have. I can say this because the games feels like it was made with Shale in mind and then cut out, so it is more fully featured and expansive than most DLC. It makes a real impact on the game I feel and Shale is an incredible tank. Do what you can to get this, and pay for it if you have to.

See if you can get through to the EA live chat support, I managed to get my EA accounts linked to my Xbox Live profile and my collector's armour on Mass Effect 2!

EA have been good for me in the past. I've got new CD keys from them before and stuff. Good to hear that it worked out for a change (usually forums are all sob stories).

it still works. i bought my copy at the end of july and all the blood dragon armor and shale both worked.
