Just started playing the pc version. But the game is feeling a bit chunky. I remember FO3 running a bit smoother and now I have better hardware. Phenom II x4, HD 5850, 4gb ddr3.

I get 40-60 FPS just walking around the wasteland, but indoors the FPS just dies. Sometimes in town as well. I monkeyed around with the advanced settings but couldn't find any combination of AA,(off, 2, 4), Anti, any of the other random settings to get a noticeable increase if FPS. Had to drop texture quality to medium and now I can barely read the words under the screen on the pipboy. V-sync off didn't give any noticeable improvement as well.

Anyone got an recs to get some more frames without sacrificing texture quality?

I read a few tutorials on the gamebryo engine settings and such. One website was very in depth in regards to FO3, but my results were not that great.

There are 2 different DLL files that can be downloaded out of the Nexus one is better suited for ATI the other for Nvidia cards, they seem to be working for a lot of people myself included.

Yeah. I turn everything up to 1920x1080, 2X antialiasing, 8X filtering, and Ultra settings. I just installed the 3rd party directX dll and everything runs smooth as butter. on my aging 3 year old PC. I can't wait to run this again on my upcoming dream class gaming rig I'll be building next month.

FUCKING MARVELOUS! FONV now runs like it should on my rig now.

I could just tell something wasn't right, glad I asked and thanks for the help.

55-60FPS with settings cranked up to ultra.  8xAA too.

here's the page if anyone is too lazy to look   http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778

edit: Found some of the same mods I used in FO3 but for FONV.

MTUI mod and centered 3rd person camera. I remember there being an entire reworked texture pack or something, wonder if there will be one for new vegas as the textures do look a bit blurry.
