I get super-anxious whenever I level up, because I have no idea what stats to put my points into.  Perks are relatively stress-free decisions for me, but point allocation leaves me staring at the screen for 20 minutes before committing to something, then kicking myself for not choosing something else. So far I've just been beefing up Guns and Speech, while arbitrarily smearing a few points into Repair or Science, then a few points into other stats that just seem too low compared to the others. I think I really need to start paying attention to Energy Weapons (I'm level 9, Energy Weapons is at about 25 while Guns is at 55) because my character sucks with them and I'm starting to find them more often.

Are you guys min-maxing, or spreading the points around? What do you think the most useful stats are? Anything you consider pumping points into early on? Also, I haven't bothered to pay attention - will all stats see some increase at level-up depending on SPECIAL, then you allocate the additional points as you wish? Or are those points you allocate the only ones you get?

Think easier. Offensive? defensive? or maybe in between? I always think about defending myself with guns, so naturally i go for guns. It all depends on what character you're building. Compare builds with other games for example.
