Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 has better gameplay overall, but it pales in comparison to all of the personality and variety found in the original.

That said, X-Men Legends 2 is better than both <3

I liked Number 1 better personally, it felt more organic even with it's flaws.

Only played MUA2. I enjoyed my time with it. All I say is don't go trophy/achivement hunting as it makes the game very monotonous. But the first playthrough was good fun.

I rather prefer the setting of the 1st one... It dismissed a narrative in favor of including as many different levels and characters as possible.

The abilities of heroes made for a much more varied and enjoyable gameplay experience in MUA2 even though the Civil War story paled in comparison to the batshit crazy places that 1 took you.

@Yummylee: Both Legends games lacked health pick ups right? I remember finding the first too hard as a kid because I never bought health... potions?

No, they had pickups, it's just that, besides Wolverine, none of your characters could regenerate health. It was the MUA games that removed health potions in favour of health orbs that you get for beating just about any enemy. The first Legends game was surprisingly hard, though, but only during the first few levels when your characters are all super low-level and Wolverine's the only character who's worth a damn. Legends 2 was a lot more lenient.

@Yummylee: All I remember was getting up to the sewer area and just getting beaten constantly whilst not having enough cash to buy more items, preferred the MUA system though even if some might find it too easy.

MUA1 is one of my most favorite games ever. MUA2 had better graphics but that's about it.

You could play as the Silver Surfer in the first game, so it wins by default.

I like the first one more, it felt more like it was made by comic book fans for comic book fans.
