Best not-so-obvious Virtual Console 3DS games?

So, I've recently discovered that my favourite way to (re)play classic games is to use my new 3DS and was hoping to discover some older games that I may have missed when I was younger. Too many top 10 lists seem to just be filled with Marios, Zeldas, Castlevanias and Metroids, but everyone already knows those are awesome. What are your favourite 3DS VC games that aren't of the typical variety? Obviously, an explanation as to what makes it interesting is always appreciated!

I really enjoy Warioland 2 for GBC, may not be what you are asking as it's still sort of a Mario title for but probably not hugely popular. The game controls very different than a Mario game and has pretty different themes compared to a typical Mario game.

I never hear anyone talking about Blaster Master Enemy Below. Hard as fuck, but still pretty fun. I should get back to that game.

I think Kirby's Pinball Land is still pretty rad.

Yeah, I've only bought the obvious favorites, I'd be curious to see if there is anything actually kind of cool that I've missed.

I will say that the save state function on there might make the Mega Man games a little more appealing, if you want some revenge for the punishment they gave you when you were a child.

Thanks for all the ideas. I've been pretty tempted to check out Kirby's Pinball Land.

I just looked up the full listing... I can't believe Pinball: Revenge of the Gator is on there! I still have it for my old brick gameboy.

Harmoknight, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Pushmo, Mega Switch Force. I think that's all 3DS, though not new.

I like the Game Gear Shinobi, as well as the 3d classics one.

I actually had a lot of fun with Pushmo and Liberation Maiden. Also Phoenix Wright is on there. That is also a load of fun.

River City Ransom is a good call. I bought it the same day it became available on the eShop, one of the best 3DS purchases I've made so far. It's a great port of the NES version, highly recommended.
