I don't know, the fact that one of the closest things to me right now are a pair of black sunglasses is something to ponder.
No. And the test for that is; "Is there movies made called the Matrix about people living in a dream world ruled by robots?" If the answer to this question is yes, then we do not.
One of the fundamental issues with the Matrix, and why previous versions failed and why the machines actually needed Zion was that people were given a choice, whether to accept the world they lived in or not. 99.9% of people accepted the Matrix, that .1% were allowed to be removed to prevent the Matrix crashing like it had in the past. If the machines allowed movies or books like the Matrix to be made, then the number of people doubting their reality would increase dramatically, meaning either more people would have to be taken out of the matrix (thereby increasing Zion's strength and decreasing the machines' power) or the Matrix would crash.
