Avatar and Titanic composer James Horner has died

He died in a plane crash. I can't imagine what James Cameron is feeling right now since he collaborated with him with almost every movie he has done with Aliens, Terminator 1-2, Titanic and Avatar.

Damn seriously, man my condolences to everyone who was part of his life.

Really sad news. He's been my favourite movie composer for years. So many great soundtracks. Aliens, The Rocketeer, Star Trek 2 and 3 are all among my favourites.

his early work in Aliens, Commando, 48hrs, Star Treks 2 and 3, Krull, etc etc, is the cornerstone of my appreciation of all types of music.

Dude, that sucks. I may not have always enjoyed the films his scores were in (Zorro sequel...), but I've always enjoyed the music.

It's a real shame. His more recent work didn't do much for me but he's done some classic scores. I particularly like Aliens, Apollo 13, the Star Treks (best part of 3), Titanic, Rocketeer, Enemy at the Gates, and Mask of Zorro.

It feels like film composers like he, Willaims, and Goldsmith are a dying breed. I can't put my finger on it but it just seems like newer composers have a different feel.

Brad Fidel composed the first 2 Terminator scores.

yeah that's an error in the OP, he did a lot of Cameron's films, but not the 2 Terminators

His Wrath of Khan, Search for Spock and A L I E N S scores are incredible. RIP

@galamoth: Yeah, the Wrath of Khan theme is one of my favorite pieces of Trek music.

Man that sucks. Horner is up there with John Williams on the Mount Rushmore of movie composers - Glory, Aliens, Apollo 13, etc.

Oh man. I still listen to the Bicentennial Man soundtrack from time to time. He's on the Mount Rushmore of film composers for sure.

His score for Wrath of Khan is one of my all time favorites. RIP

That super sucks. He scored my favourite movie (Aliens).and I adore the score in The Rocketeer.

I know private jets are like, part and parcel with the fame of being super good at something but they have a shocking safety record. Condolences.
