We all know that there have been terrible video game movies. But the new Tron: Legecy trailer has reminded me that there have been some good movies ABOUT video games; War Games, The Last Star fighter, and quite possibly the best Tron. What do you think is the best movie about video games.
Best movie about video games?
I think people are misunderstanding you if I understand you. Movies about video games not video game movies, right?
Hmm, yeah, The Wizard, I guess. There really aren't a lot that I can remember besides what you listed. I'm not even sure that Tron should be eligible. OK, I guess it is.
Yeah, King of Kong was OK too.
" The King of Kong: A Fist Full of Quarters is excellent. I have a copy signed by Steve Wiebe. The Last Starfighter is pretty good for how old it is. The Wizard is a classic (even though it is pretty bad). Oh, and Tron is probably the best. "I totally forgot The Wizard!
King of Kong was alright... although the way the producers had to turn it into a typical good guy vs bad guy story instead of showing things how they really were was a bit of a dick move towards Billy Mitchell. I still enjoyed it overall though.

" Mortal Kombat "Read the title.
If you're really trying to pose a serious answer to this question, it would have to be King of Kong or Tron. The Last Starfighter and The Wizard arefun fantasy movies that I liked when I was a kid, but are both pretty painful to watch now, especially The Wizard (which I actually caught the last half hour of the other night while flipping through the channels; the final scene where they're all playing SMB3 on the big screens is still kinda cool, though). Gamer wasn't that good, just another run-of-the-mill, ridiculous action movie.
No love for Gamer?
As far as fictional movies about games, my favorite would be Wargames. "Shall we play a game?" is kind of burned into the pop culture section of my brain. But, the best is a documentary called "Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade". It's about the hay-day of the arcade in the early 80's and the very first professional gamers who made a name for themselves among the scene. It's very nostalgic for me since I remember pretty much everything the guys in the movie talk about...well, most of the stuff since I was in elementary and junior high at the time. You can watch pretty much the whole movie on YouTube or find it via "alternate" methods since it still hasn't made it to Netflix yet. Part 1 of the movie here, parts 2-8 on YouTube Page
