I have what I think is called Image Persistance on my LCD. I was playing Assassins Creed 2 yesterday till about 2am, and noticed that there was a ghosting image of the life bar and the notoriety meter on the top left of my screen. This happened to me before with a QORE logo that I had had downloading for a while, but that went away after like 30 minutes of having the TV turned off. So I thought If I went to bed, when I wake up in the morning, itll be fine and back to normal. But its still there after 8 hours. I dont know if this is Permanent, or if itll go away after a few days, or what I should do to try and get rid of it. Should I do the Static Trick where you turn it to a channel thats static and leave it there for a bit?

@Raven_Sword: Are you sure your TV is not Plasma? Also if it is, there might be a feature you can turn on that slightly moves the image in tiny increments constantly so that image retention is reduced.

Either try the static or run a different game for a while, as see if it goes away.  LCD image persistence can last a while (I've seen it).  I imagine just turning the thing off won't reduce the persistence.  I hear that the persistence can actually become permanent, but I imagine that would require extreme conditions.

Just turn your TV off for about 24 hours, if the problem persists you may be fucked.

@MurderByDeath:

Its not really burn in, but its Image Persistance. Its not really as bad as burn in I think, since I dont think all Image Persistance is permanent.

There are these things online that flash stuff or something that fix, or at least alleviate, the problem slightly. Sorry for the incredibly vague description, but I'm not entirely sure how they work. All I know is they exist. It's like the static trick, only with more SCIENCE! behind it, making it more likely to work (obviously). I suggest googling it if the problem doesn't fix itself in a few days.

@Raven_Sword: Try putting on a Blu-Ray movie full screen and letting it loop for a day or so. That should do the trick.

I had this on my TV the other week. It goes after a couple of hours of inactivity or constant motion. Unless of course you left your TV on a static image for over 24 hours, cos if you did that, the image ain't going anywhere.

Turn off TV. Wait for 8+ hours and turn back on. If ghosting is still there. Idk then.

Ok, I did that and now I have a white picture on my TV via my PS3. I dont know if I should turn of the PS3 screensaver or not, or if that would make a difference.

Its image retention. LCD screens do not have image burn in like CRT or Plasma formats.

This usually happens when there is a bright hud on screen, or if left idle for a while. It will always go away. The best way to remove it is to actually unplug your TV so the crystals reset by losing any image memory stored.

I made that all up, by the way. Try it!
