Cable Question...

So here's the story - 
Until today my mom had Time Warner Digital Cable. She couldn't afford it so she had the box taken away and her service was disconnected at the pole. But she still gets some channels through a coax cable we have installed in our house. I wanted to know fi this is normal/illegal.

Yeah, I only have a few local ones and a couple obscure ones. But that's legal and such to get that for free?

Yeah it's legal.  Im guessing that you get ABC,NBC, FOX, PBS, CBS and a few others I cant name.  I dont have cable but use an antenna and I get all of those
