do i need to be a wacthmen fan?

to see the movie?...ive heard of the comic before but i never read it....do i need to know any story to understand the movie?

You can watch the comic now, too. There is an "animated" version of the book out now.  Really, it's just the original art with very limited motion added and a "books-on-tape" voice track.  I heard that it gets a little odd when the female character's dialog is read by the male voice-artist.
