I'd like to get one but... where's the stylus? Also, could anybody recommend a better tablet computer? Thanks guys.
Do you think that the iPad is overrated?
It certainly has its uses, but it's not a crucial product in the market. I think on Ryan's Twitter he tweeted a quote from someone who said that the iPad solves a problem that doesn't exist, and I think that's probably a fair assessment.
" Looks to me like it's just the next evolutionary leap for books. "EVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!! Cause it makes you appear smart!
The general consensus (from everything I've read and seen) is that it's awesome, but what is it for? If you absolutely have to be an early adopter, you should go ahead and pick one up. Otherwise, you might want to wait a year or so. Also, I hear that sausages work well in lieu of a stylus.
As for other tablets, just you wait. There are going to be a CRAP-ton of tablets coming out for the foreseeable future. No idea when though. There are Windows 7 tablets (bad idea) and a whole bunch of Android ones. You could wait for one of those instead.
I think its mildly overrated.
What gap does the iPad fill exactly? I have an iTouch/iPhone for music and games and internet and everything else I need on the go, and a laptop for big gaming, and typing or doing anything else you need a computer to do.
The problem with the iPad is that its big enough that you can't put it in your pocket, therefore you need to put it in your bag. At that point why not just spend your $600 on a laptop? You will get a LOT more technology for the same price. Not to mention touch games are completly overrated, and the screen gets disgustingly smudgey.
So yeah, I think the iPad is trying to trick people into thinking there is a void it needs to fill, when it actually doesn't exist. Sure it seems cool and I would mess around with one for a while if someone handed one to me, but its not worth the money.
Am I the only one who hates the idea of these kinds of things replacing books? I'm not one of those people to hate on technology because I don't like the change, but even reading lots off a computer screen can be a bit of a strain on the eye, I much prefer reading from a traditional book.
edit: (reffering to pic above) Can the IPad not do multitasking? Meaning you can only run one app at a time? Even my phone can run more multiple apps at a time.
