I have a confession to make...

I am a big fan of the series, so I find them all comparable in quality, but I personally think that if someone put a gun to my head I would say Die Hard 2 is my least favourite.  Also don't let the haterz get you down on Die Hard 4, it's REALLY good, it's got the same charm as the previous three but is modernised enough to be a really good action movie.

My favorite is the first one. Yippee-ki-yay!

Live Free or Die Hard

From best to worst (although none of them are bad, really) - Die Hard, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Live Free or Die Hard, Die Hard 2.

Die Hard 1 > Live Free or Die Hard > Die Hard 3 > Die Hard 2 
 
IMO.

I have to say 3 was my favorite. Jeremy Irons and Samuel L Jackson as Zeus were great. And the puzzles were fun, too. I remember liking McClane and Zeus' chemistry a lot.

Own Die Hard 1 on Blu-Ray. Love Die Hard 1 on Blu-Ray.

The second one is a great christmas memory for me and a ladyfriend, once a year we get all early 2000's nostalgic about the good old days when we were younger, healthier and wilder.

Die Hard 1 is the best Christmas movie ever made.

Die Hard is the best action movie ever. It is perfect.

Anyway, I've never seen a Die Hard film either but I'm seriously considering it

The only one I don't really like is Die Hard with a Vengeance.  But that's only because I have an extreme dislike for Samuel L. Jackson.

Die Hard 2 isn't bad, but... It just isn't as fun.

Love the Die Hard films, they're brilliant

Beat me to it. Have to remember to watch it again this Christmas.

Why is no one mentioning Die Hard 4.0? I heard people were disappointed with it (I liked it), but to completely ignore it...

I agree with this ranking.

I feel the same about the series. It's hard not to like the water puzzle in Die Hard with a Vengeance. It was all Professor Layton before that existed!

Kinda sucks that the first Die Hard film you watched was the worst one (in my opinion. It's not a bad movie, but compared to the first one it's just kind've "meh". At least be sure to watch the first Die Hard.

Die Hard 1 and 3 are the best. I can tolerate 2, but i can't stand 4.

I liked Die Hard 4.0. Just putting that out there. 

My favourite is 1, but three is the funniest. 

@Raven_Sword: I thought Die hard 2 was the weakest of all 4 Die Hards. The odd movies were exceptional, the evens received much more of a 'meh' reaction.

3,1,2 and somewhere a few miles ---> that way is die hard 4. Much like indiana jones 4 it should never have been made.

Die Hard 1 is amazing. Die Hard 2 is also really good. 3 was about the same as 2 for me. Never saw Live Free Or Die Hard.

too bad it was die hard 2. they should have called that one die hard poo. the first and third are way cooler.

You owe it to yourself to watch the first Die Hard, but NOT on TV. Commercial interruptions and censorship ruin the movie.

 
Die Hard 1 is great, and one of the best action films i have seen.

I watched 1, 2, 3 and 4 all in one day about 3 days ago for the first time. I enjoyed them all. I liked 2 and 3 best I think. I liked 3 because of the concept of the story which I found cool.

Here's the top 4, or 3 I guess:

1. Die Hard (The original, the best, the classic)

2. Die Hard 2 (A lot of people don't like this one and yes it's mostly a "remake" of the first one, but damn what an entertaining "remake" it is!)

3. Split decision between 4 and 3. They both have their moments but none of them can reach the first two in their greatness.

The first Die Hard is the best movie ever. The sequels have problems...

@Fullmetal216: Well according to most of the people in this thread, if he continues watching the rest of the series, it can only get better from here.

And the second one is the worst of them. The first one is where it's at, Alan Rickman is the best!

I'm with the 1>3>4>2 crowd.
