Software for creating music

Ok basically, I want to make some sick beats and lay some vocals down, I want the easiest software to work with, does anyone know of anything?

You'll need a variety of pieces of software for that.  Maybe something like audacity for starters.

Acidpro is another good one. 

Well, you could try ReBirth. It's free, It's powerful and it's complicated as all hell. But you'll be able to create some awesome synthetic music.

I was going to suggest this. The only drawback is the hefy pricetag..."

I use Reason, Ableton Live, and  Logic Pro.
