Sonic the Hedgehog Jumps Shark Ten Years Ago

I think it's really important in these divisive times to look back at something very important in video game history and acknowledge diversity in video games. The oppressive video game developers had for decades prevented real human people from kissing cartoon animals, alive or dead. This kind of exclusion was a disturbing period in time. It took one, and only one, character to break-through.

Back in 2006 one of our finest heroes was finally able to experience the dream...no.....to make this dream a reality. Tear down barriers and stereotypes, cut the spin-ball in our policies, and speed towards equality.

Yes, time flies and it has been a decade since Elise locked lips with charmer and warrior Sonic the Hedgehog. It was November 14th, 2006, and the nation was looking for something brave. We need....disruption.....

The next time your sitting to dinner with your family and loved ones, take a minute, and remember there are some out there who just want to love each other and we should encourage that wherever possible in our society. Lets keep the conversation going.....never forget.

I think I can forgive this scene because the boss that follows has a kick-ass theme.

Honestly Sonic was dead to me after I played 3D Blast everything else is just gas leaving that blue corpse.

On the bright side, the game at least retcons itself at the end :p

It's still amazing that someone, somewhere in a position of power thought that having Sonic romance a human woman would not only be a good idea, but that no one higher up the corporate ladder told them otherwise.

I mean, let's be honest. You're either a deranged weirdo and you like Sonic the Hedgehog, or else you don't like Sonic the Hedgehog. I don't think a lot of people fall outside those two categories.

Sonic jumped it long before that, I think sonic peaked at the mid 90's carton (SatAM) it was downhill from there.

wow I always forget how human that human lady was, My mind always cartoonified her more to save my memories some trauma I guess. It's like someone using free random game assets in Unity.

Sonic came out only one generation before I seriously got into gaming but he has always seemed kinda lame to me.

I remember thinking Sonic Advance for the GBA looked OK but I never played it. And every time I see it now I just feel sorry for fans of the series.

Also Sonic fans seem to have been weirdly ostracised? Like fans of DOA Vollyball or something.

@rigas: I mean, at least it was furry action in that cartoon. Still kinda weird don't get me wrong, but somehow Sonic '06 human lady action still just feels way weirder.

Sonic 06 was the embodiment of "let's throw darts at a board of postit notes ideas". It somehow landed on the shitpost someone threw up as a joke. Have sonic romance a human lady. What's even scarier is that somebody approved it.
