Come on Jenson!
The Official Shift+F1 V6 Thread of Speed
Unlike in 2013, the driver no longer has to push a button to active ERS - the power is simply delivered to the rear wheels via the throttle pedal (with a little help from the car’s electronics). Therefore, whilst you could still lap relatively competitively without KERS in 2013, an ERS problem in 2014 will be much more debilitating to performance.

I might be in the minority, but I'm enjoying the quieter engines.
Well at least now we're able to hear the tyres skid, the crowd cheer and even the bloke talking on the tannoy.
I have never been able to get my head around the speed with which the pit teams work. It is insane.
as fast as they are the most recent batch of hyper-cars go 0-60mph in that time. I don't know which is more impressive.
@dannyodwyer: At one point I actually thought I heard a woman scream. It took a while until I realized it was the rires screeching.. :P

Awesome, thanks mate. I guess my next question is how much control the teams have over when it's deployed. Surely, like KERS there is an optimal moment to use it. It used to be in the low-range gears before long stretched to ensure you reached top speed quicker. But if it's delivering that much extra power then maybe it's more useful in the mid-range gears for overtaking.
Anybody know? :O
@datarez: considering he's gone from a lost wheel to fourth, he seems to be doing alright to me
I think that with the hideous penis noses we are going to see the middle part of the front wing be opened up to development once again in the coming years of F1.
I don't know if this a Sky Sports F1 thing, or UK/Europe sports coverage in general, but I'm really impressed with the Spartan overlays on Sky's coverage. At first I thought it was a bit too minimal but that's probably more to do with me being new to the sport.
In the US we have, literally, CGI robots doing touchdown dances overlay-ed over our live sports, numbers and graphics wooshing in from all four sides constantly.
@digitalerich: All of the overlays are provided by F1 itself. Regardless of what channel you are watching you get the same feed/graphics.
Grojsean will be on the floor in the pits, kicking and screaming after this!
You'd think he would be used to not finishing races by now.

We have the Sky coverage here in Aus and its really good except for our local broadcaster going to ads every few minutes.
@mister_v: Oh interesting, so I would see the same layout on NBC Sports (if I had it), that's kind of neat.

They're being way more liberal in using Team Radio this season too - very cool.
@digitalerich: I assume so I'm not sure if the channel showing it can add their own graphics as well but in the UK we have BBC and Sky coverage and they both show the same feed.
inb4 Magnussen does what Lewis couldn't in his rookie season.
Magnussen 2014 WDC
I would love to see that happen, the kid has shown proper speed regardless of the machine he's strapped into.

Yeah, I have also noticed Ferrari are only speaking English on the radio, i wonder of someone had a word with them?
#Rischardo
Button looks like he's eating up time on the top 3. This is going right to the end. Also, there's gotta be one more major incident in the works. I can feel it! :)
Anybody else coming 'round on the engine noise? I actually really enjoy hearing the breaking and the turbo whiz is always a joy to hear in any car engine. It almost makes up for the lack of hypercar screech the old engines did.
Man, this is proper good F1 and it's a great time for newcomers to come in. So much more fun and interesting than last few seasons.
Magnusson's pit just told him to use the overtake button. It sounds like ERS can be over-written if the drivers need it.
@dannyodwyer: I don't think Button can get a second a lap he needs with 5 to go though.
@dannyodwyer: Swedish commentators are explaining it like it's more of a "boost"-setting for the mixtures for the engine, not a "push to boost"-button
@dannyodwyer: re Team Radio, I was messing around with the official F1 iOS app (pretty neat) and it seems like if you want to drop $11 for the premium pass for the season, you can tap into any team's radio throughout each race via the app.

Thanks for the heads up . If I do I'll just tune into Kimi's for the entire race.
