I hear Google+ is the next big thing, yet the only activity I really see are tech journalists. Leo Laporte has 61K followers. Shocker. Most of my friends aren't geeks so they haven't even HEARD of Google+ yet, let alone feel the need to join it. Right now at least, Google+ feels like twitter with a larger character count. That's it.

It makes more sense for Giant Bomb duders to be in circles together than to have a big twitter list. On google plus you can post Giant Bomb related content only to those that care. Makes sense to me.
Most of my friends don't know about Google+, but every day I'm seeing one or two posts about it on my Facebook feed, so it is growing. It definitely makes sense for GiantBomb, though.

It's in beta.
Gmail was in beta for the first five years of its existence. This didn't stop it from becoming pretty much the standard web-based e-mail service.

Sorry, closed beta.
Gmail did not hit the masses until it no longer needed an invite to get in. Right now G+ requires you to know someone who is already in. It's not going to spread far beyond the geekosphere like that.

That's definitely true. My bad for not thinking about Google+ still being in closed beta.
