I may be wrong, but wasn't there actually a new skateboard bundle released with the newest Tony Hawk? I think it just had a redesign, but still. "
As poorly as last year's Tony Hawk did, I can't imagine that they would manufacture new skateboards for the latest one. I'm assuming that Gamestop, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and all of the other companies that couldn't sell RIDE sent their unsold copies back to Activision. Activision then ripped those boxes open, put the copies of RIDE into a furnace or something, and then packaged those boards with the new game.
Regardless of what the truth is, I just hope they keep releasing these games because they always make for great Quick Looks.

@JJWeatherman: Well crap. Assuming that my original theory is valid (which it probably isn't, maybe,) they could have just put decals on the board. Apparently, only six people on Giant Bomb have actually played the game so it's unlikely that anyone can confirm or deny that the boards are the same. Maybe the Tested guys could take the new board and the one from last year apart and see what the deal is.
But yeah, as big a failure as last year's game was, it would be super-stupid to make a bunch of new boards for a new bundle. I have never worked at a video game store, but I have worked at a music/movie store and we frequently sent CDs and DVDs back to the distributor. I'm don't know what happened after that, but I would assume that they might have gone back to the manufacturer. I would assume that this is what happened in this case. I could be totally wrong, and I'm ok with that.

Makes sense to me. Seems like it could be easy enough to stick a decal on there and repackage them. It sure seems like it would save a lot of money.

In all seriousness though, they easily could have the worst peripherals which include the worst implementation. I mean seriously, those Cabela peripherals aren't TERRIBLE, it's the games themselves that are just awful. Tony Hawk Shred is just god awful as well, but the peripheral... well... okay fine, there's no defending those boards.
