I need a larger monitor for my gaming and I'm torn. It doesn't need to be the best looking screen, and it needs to be affordable. What are your thoughts on the two brands mentioned?

Vizio are quality televisions for a low price. You don't get much compromise with them. The other brand, however, I've never heard of.

Vizio is the cheaper, more plastic, more Chinese-made version of Sharp. Westinghouse is just cheap, pretty sure. I'd vote Vizio, probably.

Vizio. They're actually very well-made televisions. I don't know why they get so much shit thrown at them. They work, they're well built, and they're cheap.

Well depending on your definition of large I'd suggest the ASUS VK278Q (27 inch), got one a couple of weeks ago and it's great. I paid $500 for it, but I bet you can get it for $300 or something if you're American.

It all depends on the specific TV you're looking to buy as every TV is different.  Try not to think about buying a TV, or any product, by the brand.  Instead, look at the product itself.  I really like my Vizio but I like it because it is specifically a good TV.  If I had seen a Westinghouse that looked better I would have bought it.

Look up reviews for the specific TVs that you are looking at and be sure to calibrate the TV after you buy it.

Go with Vizio.  Pretty much what was said already, they are cheap and look/work great.  I've only seen a Westinghouse in action once and it was probably the largest, shittiest HD TV I've ever seen.  So yeah, I'd go with Vizio.

If you're not going to get a quality brand like LG, Samsung or Sony you may as well not bother. Vizio is well established as the shittiest brand (apart from store brands like Best Buy Insignia) and Westinghouse isn't much better.
