Are you serious that there will be no signatures? I mean I like words as much as the next person but its always nice to have a signature, even if its limited to like 350 by 150 pixels.

Words? WORDS!? What is this maddness!? You want us to express ourselves with words!? That is one of the most preposterous things I have ever heard in my life! I will not stand for this injustice! That makes me angry and oppressed at the same time!
...hopefully never. I've seen boards that have smilies,they clutter the boards up everywhere and it seems like every message is cutesy (or do those smilies make it that way or do they attract the cutesy crowd?). I ASCII my smilies sparingly.
Keep the sigs out too. Okay that Star Trek quote was kind of cute the first time I read it, and i don't care it took you only 4 hours to get every achievement in GTA4 (not that i believe it just because you typed it) Ever try to go through a thread in which two people with sigs are quoting each other repeatedly?
Plus those things are gateways to worse things like emoting:

I kinda disagree. I think signatures are a waste of space really, and just takes longer to see people's post on threads... Maybe a hidden signature like the "see mini bio" button, but still... I really like that there's no signatures because it's a lot less clutter.

But smilies are useful. And Sigs allow creativity and let you be more individual from everyone else on GB.
I don't need a image to tell me what the person is thinking. =), =(, =D, =P are all suitable for me. Pretty easy to figure out what they are if you've been on the internet for longer than an hour.
Instead of smilies we need word filters. I want it so that every time someone types "lol" it shows up on the boards as "hahaha I am laughing out loud right now!"
I don't think they are coming, and tbh, I don't want them to come. Besides, they would get overused. If you really want "smilies", just upload a picture and do that.
I was kind of bummed about signatures because it's a pretty easy way to let people know your GT/PSNID/Steam ID or what have you but whatever. I can do without smilies...its more fun to make your own anyway ^.^
