Which platform(s) will Persona 5 release on?

Where is the Ouya comedy option?

I'm still not convinced that it won't be a handheld game on the 3DS or Vita.

If it's not, though, I'd bet on the PS3. That platform seems to have pretty good support for lesser-known JRPG's.

If I knew that I would probably be working for Atlus.
If I were working for them though I would make sure that a version of it was put out on Gameboy first.

That way, when people lose their minds(because, they have nothing better to get upset about because, you know, being born with a silver spoon in their mouth and everything) I can make the PR guy go "Ok, fine, we "listened to the community(no we didn't we were doing this from the start. you're not that important people, at all)" and then announce "We'll be remaking it for the PC, PS4 and Vita!" and everyone would feel like they did something worthwhile in their lives for once. Maybe for the first time and the last time.

To me, PS3 & Vita is the most appealing option, because of the stuff they're doing with save sharing and stuff. It'd be cool to play all the important story bits at home on my TV, by myself, but when I go over to a friends or something, be able to get some leveling or dungeon exploring in.

I say 3DS and Vita. They seem to be the most likely option. All the past Persona games were ported to portables (PSP) and I assume they sold really well. Also if SMT IV does really well then I feel it will most likely be.

As much as I'd like to see it on a home console, I don't think they'd do it. I think it'll be either a Vita or 3DS game. Most likely the Vita seeing as every Persona game has been released/playable on the Vita.

After all this time I would be pretty disappointed if they make P5 a handheld game.

I'd put my money on it being a Vita exclusive. Handheld development has been treating Atlus really well, I doubt they'd leave Sony platforms for the Persona series, and I wouldn't be surprised if Sony has been pushing them hard after the success Persona 4 Golden has had in selling units.

I would say 3DS. I wouldn't say Vita just yet because the sales of it are so low. Meanwhile 3DS is doing excellent.

Most of the info that has trickled out so far suggests it will be a console game, and since I highly doubt they'd make the jump to next-gen I expect the PS3 and maybe the 360 if they feel it's worth the trouble.

While they've been in love with handhelds lately, if they are going to make a console game Persona 5 would absolutely be the game they would do it with. Persona is easily their most popular series right now and has the most chance of making back the larger development costs.

If by chance it did end up going to a handheld first I don't see it ending up on both the 3DS and Vita. That port isn't as easy as PS3/360, and Atlus already isn't in the habit of doing multiplatform releases at launch, so it would most likely be one or the other. Vita makes more sense from a development standpoint to me, but the 3DS is the clear winner for potential sales.

But yeah, I'm about 80% sure it will end up on the PS3 first at the least.

At this point with the kind of budgets those games have (and with atlus's parent company going bankrupt) I'd imagine it'd have to be current gen or handheld, I really hope it isn't handheld exclusive though, portable version sure but not exclusive.

One problem I see is ever since Nocturne they've been reusing a ton of the demon models and animations, they'd almost certainly have to redo them with higher polycounts and new animations for HD, which is really time consuming (and probably the reason they opted to use sprites in SMT4, so they didn't have to reuse them again).

As for platform it'd most likely be 360/PS3 with possibly a Vita version, Catherine was their testbed and as far as I know their technology worked fine on both consoles, it might not be the best choice to put out a 360 version in Japan, but I can only assume they'd make a profit on it elsewhere.

On the other hand the dev process for the new consoles might be easier to the point that they'd make it faster if they did it, but if that was the case it'd probably only be there because of the ease and not so much taking advantage of the power, if the price speculation of next gen development is to be believed

If Nintendo ends up buying Atlus (which seems possible, but not probable) that could be a very real doomsday scenario.

...what exactly do you mean by "interact with your friend"? I'm not sure it's much different from hanging out and watching a movie, or the latest episode of Breaking Bad. What if my friend likes to play PSO2 and likes having some company around? I don't think it's that weird to chill & talk & drink with friends while playing video games.

I would guess that Catherine and Persona 4 Arena were released on both 360 and PS3 to test the waters and to get sales figures. I'd wager it'll end up on PS3 and 360.

@cincaid: @bigjeffrey: @captaintightpants: Because P4A sold like shit on 360 (and Catherine as well I believe) so obviously the audience that purchases those consoles don't care for Atlus games. Why waste their time with that audience is my thought.

A large portion of their sales tend to come from Japan, right? The x360 sold like crap there there, so that's to be expected. In other regions, like NA, I would expect that the difference in sales between both consoles is much smaller.
