I have been a PC gamer for years now. I sold off all my 360 stuff years ago to upgrade my PC and have only been gaming on it. I have a nice TV in my living room that I would like to hook a PS3 up to. I know nothing about PS3 or the PSN. I dont know which games are PS3 must haves. Some help would be great. Also I'm mostly interested in PS3 exclusives and PS3 games that did not come out on PC. I have about 400+ PC games so if it came out on PS3 and PC I probably already have it on PC. Any suggestions?
Thanks! I knew I forgot something. Also should look at the PixelJunk Shooters, those games are rad.
First get ps+. Its $50 a year and it get you access to free games, discounts, and timed trials (which is basically a demo for every major game i can think of). As for games get:
- Uncharted series
- Demons Souls
- Resistance Series
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Infamous series ( Infamous 2 is free with ps+ btw)
- Little Big Planet
- All the ThatGameCompany games (journey, flow, and flower)
Dragon's Crown!!!(Coming out on August 6th) and yes PS+!!! Just make sure the PSN ID you make is what you WANT!!! If you have OCD like I had you'll have a hard time. But just rent first, don't buy until you give a game a try, and PS+ lets you demo tons of games alright!!! :) Enjoy fellow PSNer!
PS: Don't waste your money on HD remakes unless you truly loved those games, because I got the Metal Gear one, Ratchet and Clank and Devil May Cry and found out that I wasn't into Devil May Cry and Ratchet and Clank (And that MGS is having all the games bundled in one so I traded all these games in, DMC only has 2 good games the 2nd SUCKED! Like so bad I beat a majority of bosses with the gun which all lasted 45 plus minutes... and Ratchet and Clank is so choppy and overrated because it has messed up check points seriously and the story is soooooooooo bland!)
I bought a PS3 for Demon's Souls. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's great fun. The world is fun to explore.
- The Deadly Premonition Director's Cut
- Super Stardust HD
- The new Metal Gear HD collection. For Peace Walker. Because Peace Walker is a fun game.
- Dragon's Dogma
I suggest you start with 3 months of PSN+, the free games you get will more than make up for it, and you can probably finish enough of them to take or leave renewing the sub.
Exclusives / PS3 Enhanced also worth trying:
- Heavy Rain
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2
- House of the Dead Overkill EC
- Uncharted Series
- God of War Series
- Heavenly Sword
- Heavy Rain
- Demon's Souls
- Yakuza series
- Playstation All-Stars
- No More Heroes Paradise
And if you're not opposed to some quirky JRPG stuff the Atelier series is pretty interesting as well.
@brackynews: Huh? None of the Ninja Gaiden games are exclusive.
@funzzo: Valkyria Chronicles has to be the at the top of the pile. Flower, Pixel Junk Eden/Encore, Super Stardust HD, and Where is My Heart? are fantastic downloadable games. Since it never came to PC and I don't know how long ago you got rid of your 360 stuff I'll say Red Dead Redemption as well.
Another vote for Valkyria Chronicles here too, cannot stress how incredible that game is!
I notice some have mentioned the Resistance series, personally I think 1 & 2 were average at best when they were released and I cannot imagine time will have been kind to them so think carefully before picking them up. The 3rd in the series is a really good shooter though and definitely worth picking up.
Uncharted is showing its age a little now, but no more that any other game from that far back. It is still a very enjoyable game but once you have played 2 there is no going back. There is some carry over with the stories from the 1st to the 2nd so definitely play it first.
- The Last of Us (The only thing on this list I believe is truly a must-have)
- Valkyria Chronicles
- inFamous 1 & 2
- Uncharted Trilogy
- That Game Company Collection (Journey / Flower/ Flow from memory, for like $20-25, it's a great deal)
- Demon's Souls (IMO if you've already played Dark Souls, this isn't required - but many would disagree)
I'd like to say that for those who say Valkyria Chronicles is the number 1 go-to, I love that game as well, but it's not as important a game as The Last of Us. (in my opinion, and apparently that of almost every reviewer on earth)
