Yay! More and more devs are ditching this awful and sorry excuse of a service known as GFW LIVE and going with Steam. Good.

    Steam works

That means if you buy game from retail you need you steam and require internet.

I prefer GFWL achievements over Steam achievements :3  I dunno the current state of GFWL seemed OK, some games (like Bioshock 2) implement it kinda poorly.

Steam is a completely different thing though.  I'd rather BUY games at retail or Steam that use GFWL over shitty Steam achievements.

I honestly hate GFWL, I don't want a xboxlive account at all. Honestly i've never used it before, I haven't played alot of their games online even if it's free. I'm glad developers are realising it's not a good investment and going with steam.

Steamworks is a better solution anyway.  Only thing GFWL has going for it is the achievement syncing with your XBL account.

i think it is a good thing. i never used games for windows. i hears some bad things from when it first came out. people didn't want to pay for live so they forgot about games for windows. i do think that it is a great that gamers did that.

GFWL = "Games For Windows Live" = piece of shit wanna-be Steam for PC games with Xbox Live achievements and UI aesthetics. It's buggy, slow, and unreliable.

This doesn't make sense.  1st you say you hate it but then you say you've never used it.  Then you say you haven't played a lot of GFWL games online... which implies that you've played some
I'm not trolling, I just read that and was like, 'what?'

I personally only use GFWL for achievements.  If it didn't have them I wouldn't care about GFWL at all.  I know Steam has achievements now but I'm already invested in Live's system and don't really care about Steam achievement or Sony Trophies, etc.

Steam totally is better.  I like its auto-update system for games, the selection, and stuff is always on sale.

Why do they need to leave GFWL to go to Steam?  Doesn't Steam's store have GFWL games?

@Andorski: In terms of Patches, DLC, UI, and Achievements, Steam is more reliable, efficient, and allows for less logins.

I like the service. Yeah it's a shame that most of the titles that have Games for Windows on their cover don't exactly run the service, but when you have achievements that stack with your Xbox Live achievements then that is really good. But then so is Steam because I have the disc and the download.

I just read the story too. How is the service crappy? I've played Halo 2 on there and there is nothing wrong with it. Besides aren't the developers or publishers supposed to make sure that their servers run legitimately? Last I checked I always see the developers throwing out patches to make sure that all the glitches and other problems are taken care of. So PC Gamer... you can suck my hairy white ass.

@JoeyIA: I don't care about achievements, it does nothing for me. I shouldn't have to depend on this lousy microsoft service to play online, I do use the offline feature though because I have to use it to save, just not the online. I shouldn't have to use a second service to go online, we are pc gamers, we don't like it when microsoft tries to control our online space when they don't even support it well. Look trust me, with the exception of you, I don't feel like I need to sign up to more stuff to play online. I don't care if it makes sense to you or not, it's like some sort of drm to us pc gamers that's intrusive. We pc gamers aren't console gamers and doesn't accept microsoft invading our space with mediocrity. Besides what will happen if I sign up? I know what online is like, I also have a ps3 and I always considered pc gaming should go online without some sort of stupid GFWL account. I'm not supporting it like alot of other ppl who agrees with me.

I don't have to try aids to know what it's like, that's my point. I have a general idea. I'm comparing the service to aids.

I've never had any problems either. I think you're just grumpy.

More games should go down the road of Dawn of War 2 and have both so I can get Xbox Live Achievements but also be able to get them cheap on a weekend sale!
