It does exactly what it sets out to do

Greed Corp is a fun little game that accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do: create a game where you strategically destroy the world you are playing in (often for profit). The game centers around the "make money by destroying land" mechanic, such that playing the game is a fun balance of building enough factories to power your needs early, followed by trying to keep (or steal) enough land later in the game to win.

This game doesn't aim to have the depth of major strategy titles like Civilization or StarCraft, but it occupies the space it sets out to very well -- and I suppose the fact I have to pick two of the go-to series for strategy to compare it to bodes well. The turn-based combat system isn't particularly deep, since you just trade dudes-for-dudes exactly (with the attacker claiming land on a draw), there's enough options with cannons and factory placement that the game stays interesting. The individual games go quickly, but there's a pretty hefty campaign to keep you occupied for a while if you like the game. I've logged 7.8 hours on it via Steam and don't regret it, but don't often feel compelled to play more than that.

If you're a fan of pure strategy, this game is good. The absence of any significant story and the lack of more depth to the gameplay may not give it the staying power of some other titles, but this would be a fine buy to spend an evening or two with.
