Lincoln Force Inactivity Check & How I Met Your Mesmer Move

Hello all,

So it's been a month since GW2 came out and by now we've all settled into the game and many of us have had the chance to see if the like it, get max level characters, etc. Additionally things like in-game bugs plus IRL work / uni schedules have settled down to the point where we can finally start doing admin duties which are long since overdue.

One of these is to move active members who have been too-long consigned to How I Met Your Mesmer, our overflow guild, into Lincoln Force and conversely move our inactive members to the overflow. The issue we have with this at the moment is GW2 itself gives us little by way of tools with which to do this, so we must instead attempt alternative methods. As such...

We are doing a guild-wide, 2 week long inactivity check following the process below. This is essential for all active members who wish to stay in Lincoln Force.

1. Join our Steam group- Not required, but definitely recommended - see our reasoning for this below.
2. Fill out this quick form- Definitely required (it just asks for your username, etc for reference on the moving day)
3. Log into the game and change your rank from "Move to Mesmer" to "Forever Lincoln". To do this, open the G menu, right click your rank icon and select "Forever Lincoln". For those in HIMYM the new rank is called "Waiting Room" instead.

The Cut-off date for this is October 13th.Anyone who does not change their rank by then will be moved to overflow.

Q&A!

Why do you want us to join the steam group and our steam details?

Because in-game communication in GW2 is pretty lacking, and we want to start organising stuff by means other than direct word of mouth.

As such, if you join the steam group you can check when we'll be holding events, be notified when events are starting and see announcements in a timely manner. We're hoping for this to become a thing, so that's why we want as many people as possible to know about them in an efficient manner with little fuss - hence steam groups.

Can I enter my friend's details?

We'd prefer you not to, but we can't really stop you. The idea is for this survey to prompt actions (like changing ranks and joining the steam group) in addition to the info we get from it, etc - filling it out for others voids the point and is kindof a lame move.

Do I have to fill out the survey?

Well, yes - but you have 'till the 13th of october to do so.

What happens to people who don't change their rank by the 13th of october?

They will be kicked from the guild and sent a friendly PM detailing why, along with an invite to How I Met Your Mesmer. If HIMYM hits its invites maximum, we'll be making more overflow guilds and inviting to those instead.

What happens if I miss the date?

Well, you'll still be kicked, etc - but you can message us in game to get reinvited to LF. This isn't banishment or any other form of punishment, it's just to get things organised. Stay tuned for a post detailing this stage closer to the 13th.

As a recommendation for future Lincoln Force related threads, could you guys decide on a thread title header (e.g. [BOMB] Thread Title Goes Here) so it's easier to see which threads are official announcements by the guild officers? It would be a lot easier to keep track of guild conversations in this thread if all the officers used the same headers. Thanks.

@yoshimitz707: The current MotD in HIMYM says to do so, so I went ahead and did that.

Ive done all of those things. I dont really use steam all that much so I probably wont see any of the stuff in there, but I am one of the very few mumble regulars, so its fine.

Ah, thanks for pointing this out to me - I hadn't realised we were using the same system for the Mesmer blokes.

At the moment it's about where we were expecting activity levels to be (around 50 or so %) though it could be less. The post- move guild should be cool, and it'd be nice to have mainly actives on the roster.

Life and love have caught up to me so I haven't had much of a chance to binge on gw2. How would I go about getting back into the loop in a few months time once uni's out of the picture?

@caska: At that point you'll be able to just message us in-game to get back in.

Unless things go crazy and we fill up again - something I really doubt.

i am happy to be moved to HIMYM i am not very active compared to most of the players and when I am coonected there is never more than 2 members on the chat anyway belonging to a guild feel more rhetorical than anything else to me ^_^

Glad I happened to see this thread! If not, I would have been bummed when I was kicked out!

This system for cleaning the ranks of the main guild will hopefully not be the same one we have to use next time Lincoln Force fills to max (hoping ANet will give us better tools to find inactive players). So all you will need to do when you find some time to play GW2 again is message one of the admins of the guild and we can get you in.

Right now we're in the dark on how many will be moving to [CBSi] and how many will be coming into [BOMB], we can give a better estimate next week after all is done.

Consider it a couple of days extension on your homework : P

I'm pretty sure i've invited everyone from the overflow guild who had changed their rank to "waiting room". If you haven't changed your rank, i'm not going to send you an invite.

@Packfan104L4: Alright, I'll look into it. As @TTMSHU said, I'll be verifying if you went through the process because that is what we used to make sure the move happened and the proper people were taken care of. If you are in HIMYM and you haven't changed your rank, that would be why you didn't receive an invite. Anyway, as I said I'll look into it as soon as I wrap up my work.

Thanks for the invite sub. I changed my rank, filled out the transfer webform, and joined the Steam group, but never received an invite. Just letting you guys know just in case there may be others like me that fell through the cracks.
