A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
" Marty's response to the foreign name question was epic. "
Totally. I really love Marty. Every time I see an interview with him, or hear him speak on Halo in general, it makes you realize how involved in the games he actually is. And of course there's all of the incredible music he composes. Some of the tracks in Reach that I've heard from leaked videos of the armory and whatnot sound downright awesome.
As for the questions, I found a few of them to be sort of lame. If I had an entire Bungie panel in front of me ripe for questioning, I'd hope I would think of something more worthwhile than some of those. Things like whether or not Jorge is Hispanic seem so trivial, but oh well.

" Thanks man. The voice work clip gave me goose bumps. "
Yeah, I really love the idea Marty was talking about where they have accents that are hard to place. Sounds interesting in game, and makes sense given the future setting and people living away from Earth.
Lee Wilson made a few points about making sure the members of Noble Team didn't fall into stereotypical military clichés, but from what I've noticed thus far (having not played the actual game) it seems like they could've been more creative with the character roles/personalities. Carter is the noble leader, Jorge is the grizzled veteran, Kat is the tech expert, Jun is the lethal sniper, and Emile... just lacks any character. Part of me fears that they followed a template that's worked in typical military fiction so that the "GI Joe little kid playing with action figures" demographic can attach themselves to this Halo phenomenon.
Don't get me wrong; I admire Bungie's ability to craft excellent games and I love the intrigue of their storytelling - just look at the Marathon series - and I'm cautiously optimistic that Reach will tell a good story.
My son and I attended both Halo events at PAX. Both were fun and informative. Seeing the concept art and how they worked from circles and lines drawn on a piece of paper to Post-It notes on a wall to a finished game was amazing.
