My 4 month old Xbox just kicked the bucket, and I'm pretty bummed.  Luckily it is under warranty, but now I have to stare at the statue of Noble team for two extra weeks at least.  Best part is this is the Xbox I got right before the E3 announcement.  I'm soon to be on my 4th Xbox.  They also couldn't figure out what was wrong with my Xbox.  So, yay!  Got that going for me.  Anyone else have poorly manufactured Xbox horror stories?

Sucks hard. I would almost buy a new Xbox if I were in your position.

I got a slim. I had one Xbox red ring on me after 4 years. SO I was out of warranty, just bought the slim and it works like a dream. Microsoft is finally learning how to make a solid piece of hardware.

that sucks, bro. hopefully they give ya a flat out new one. i don't see them givin ya a slim since you'd need another xbox to do the memory transfer from HDD to HDD but hopefully they send you a new one that will actually work. might do good to just go ahead and grab a new slim though this holiday season.

Go buy the special Reach Xbox.

I am on my 5th Xbox, over the course of... 4 years? and I have reason believe that my HDD is near corruption/not functioning.

See, I have very little money (poor college kid cliche inserted).  I bought the new arcade after my last xbox red ringed for the second time and it was out of the beautiful 3 year warranty.  I was hoping that the new arcade would last me through college and so i spent what little money I have on the expensive version of reach.  I'd love to get a slim.  I'm thinking of putting a note in my box saying how I wouldn't mind it if they replaced it with a slim.   
 
During the call with tech, the guy asked if my xbox was making any weird noises, like grinding.  I responded with, "not unless quietness is a weird noise for an xbox to make."  I also got him to agree that this was a shitty situation, which was really empowering.  :P

Sucks man, but I'd just use that as an excuse to pick up one of the Reach consoles.

Poor timing indeed. It's almost like your Xbox knew, and took it's own life to prevent your enjoyment.

Wait. I thought they pushed it to 7 year warranty. I admit my memory is the "best" worst feature I have... too bad IT doesn't have a 4 year warranty.

Literally, the same thing happened to me the day of the midnight release of Halo 3. I was pissed, man. Fucking furious.  
 
Anywho, I hope the turnaround is quick for you, duder. Reach looks like it's mighty good. 

Am I the only one who never had a broken Xbox? I've had mine for one and a half year, and it has been working flawlessly =/

That's pretty harsh. I'm off to wrap my xbox in cotton wool while I wait for halo reach to arrive!
