A fun yet short DS title

If you've ever watched Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star, you've seen Kenshiro lay waste to his enemies with his ATATATATATA Bruce Lee sounding attacks that blow his enemies to bits. Well that's exactly what you get to do in this game, but even better, it follows the plot of the comic books and skips the filler. So not only do you get to enjoy the action, but if you've got some knowledge of Japanese, or if you've seen the series before, you can enjoy the story as well.

The game is split up into chapters, and in each chapter the game will appear much like a comic book by sliding in comic frames. When the action starts the screen will flash purple with a command telling you what to do. The most basic thing to be done is to hit the circles that appear on an enemy, and sometimes these circles have numbers and need to be hit in order. Other times you have to dodge, hit highlighted hands, slice, blow into the DS, and power Kenshiro up for his next battle among several other game mechanics. This game is all action however, so don't expect any experience points or leveling up or anything of that sort, so the complexity depth for the game stops here.

That being said, the game is on the short side, and the difficulty isn't enough to keep you from beating the game in a day or two. There are unlockables as well, and each stage has a letter grade, the highest being S, so if you're a perfectionist and a collector those things are there for replayability. Overall it's a very fun and short title worth checking out if you like importing games.
