Title says it all. I completely forgot about this game other than remembering that it comes out this year, not today (May 17th) but here we are. I guess the press didn't get any copies like with Doom (which is fantastic by the way).

Anyone play it yet from midnight release editions?

Not yet, but for some reason I REALLY want to pick it up tomorrow. I just can't resist a wasteland.

Austin's apparently got this game. Something tells me it isn't going to live up to the tensions of the fictional setting... which doesn't bode well for his appraisal.

I didn't even know it existed

I was pretty excited about this game from the trailers. It looked like Crysis in an open world urban environment, which the actual Crysis series strayed too far away from for my liking. But after watching extended gameplay of Homefront: Revolution's muliplayer betas, the game looked really bland and mediocre. Given the game's rocky development, I was willing to look past its dated visuals, but the shooting lacks impact and the co-op and open world dynamics looked really boring. Here's to hoping I'm wrong and the game holds up, because it's what I've been looking for since the first half of Crysis.

It strikes me as Far Cry in the city, which is totally fine by me. Waiting for it to unlock on Steam (pretty dumb it isn't already).

I did also forget it was out so damn soon. I'm hoping it ends up a pleasant surprise.

The whole Homefront setting as always looked bland to me, looks like another generic shooter. I'd take Dying Light over Homefront any day, was pleasantly surprised by DL despite being sick to death of zombies.

Eurogamer had a look at the game.

Quick look at Twitter and it doesn't seem to be positive. Good thing I don't ever listen to games media. The technical issues are a bit concerning, but we'll see how/if that's patched up quickly or not or if it's a minority case.

It just looks like another FarCry game and I was already burnt out on that format after FC3. Frankly I was a little surprised people were so receptive to FC4 seeing as it was the exact same thing again. This is a very similar product except with a setting I don't really care about.

Yea I forgot until recently, I still have no idea why the first game gained so much traction either.

I have played about an hour and I think I'm done. It's not very often I will give up on a full priced digital purchase so quickly but nothing about what I played feels good and it has BAD performance issues on PS4. Very depressing to play right after Uncharted 4. I may very well not be giving it much of a chance but it just feels rotten and I have better things to do with my time

From the trailers it looks terrible. The visuals and character\facial animations look so bad. Being a game that was built on cryengine, i would think it would look better.

Another yawnworthy shooter. How many identical games can devs create, I wonder?

Was there a day one patch for you? Sounds like the console versions are more borked. PC might be the way to go here.

i played the mulitplayer beta which was fine but pretty boring

the dirtbike stuff was kinda neat tho

"Less broken" is still broken to near unplayability, from what I've seen. Might want to skip this one altogether.

It felt like for the past month, every week I would randomly think, "Oh, right?! That game is coming out soon!" Maybe I've just been living under a rock, but this feels like a giant dud.

I thought the original Homefront had a pretty neat multiplayer mode, but then I seem to be the only one who preferred Kaos Studios' take on the Battlefield series over what DICE did without their involvement. Didn't care for the original's campaign at all, and can't say I was ever interested in a sequel without Kaos Studios.

Yes. But that's to expected when you have games like UC4 coming out around the same time, and Doom suddenly being a GOTY contender.

I do know it exists, but I wish I didn't.

I played this at Pax West last year. My one lasting memory of the game involved me straying from the demo's super-specific critical path and, as a result, completely breaking the AI's scripting.

I didn't even remember it was coming out until I saw an ad for it.

The crytek demo that was out when the game was first being shown looked so different from the footage of what the current game is. Such a shame because the original demo looked so promising.

I'm just surprised at how soon it came out

I saw an ad for it last week and when trying to figure out what it was before the logo splash I was all "oh, yeah, this is The Division or something!"

@rongalaxy: Reviews are saying it isn't an actual open world. But a map broken down into 8 large areas, that you are funneled into linearly. With no reason to return to a past area.

The only thing that seems notable about this game is how jaw-droppingly dissonant its entire premise is.

Sometimes I forget the first Homefront exists. Actually, if not for this gem, I'd probably not have been reminded of it in years.

I knew about the license changing hands at various points and assumed it would just fall onto the market at some point or disappear, so i guess this is it stumbling out. I saw a bus stop with an ad for it on the side last week which took me by surprise, then that trailer last week which looked rooooough, i hope it's good like i hope any game is good but i somehow doubt it.

If there's a game that really shouldn't have gotten a sequel, it's Homefront. Seriously, why in the hell did they make this?

@kishinfoulux: There was a 3GB patch. As of yesterday the version number is 1.02.

I've been playing the PS4 version and it runs likes a one legged dog. Awful, not since Shellshock 2 and Rogue Warrior has an FPS ran so poorly on consoles.

And we'll all forget about it again when overwatch comes out. Well it got a solid seven days to itself at least!

I feel bad for the people who had to have put a lot of work into it just to see it (supposedly) flounder without any fanfare.

I couldn't forget that it exists. Everyone coming into the LAN center has been asking if we have it.

This generation of console gamers saddens me on a fairly regular basis.

Like...we have a guy that is coming in and playing this thing on day passes. Full twelve hours. With other people.

Meanwhile, Doom is fucking AWESOME!

After watching the Quick Look it looks like it could stay forgotten.
