The video itself was uploaded a day or two ago by Romero with some new text in it that explains what we see. And its awesome on so many levels for me personally. Not only for the reasons I stated above and for the sheer treasure value of such a clip but I also takes me back to my childhood that for many nights could look exacly like the later parts of the video. A dark room, a friend or two, some laughing, some screaming, some Hard rock and DOOM !
The video also shows some stuff that is beyond awesome to see today. First off Romero is calling the "gibs" "bits" since it was recorded before he himself coined the phrase "gibs" that has since been used all over the place.
Its also cool to see such a superearly build of Doom as the one shown here. Wolf 3D soundeffects, lock ups, slow downs, glitches. Its all in there together with the "wow"s from the people experiencing the dawn of 3D shooters.
The only downside to it is that there is not even a glimpse of John Carmack, but hey, I take what I can get.
Man I could just go on and on with this. This half hour clip should be treated as a HUGE find for the gaming industry. Treat it with respect and then watch!
