E1M1, Hangar !!
This is already posted on the main page but I really feel I need to spread this video as much as possible. A While ago, John Romero wrote on his twitter that he had found a forgotten video showing the ID Software office and the production of Doom around Novemver 1993. As a huge ID software fan, that has read the book "Masters of Doom" by David Kushner I jolted out of my chair when I heard these news. I´ve read about the founding and early days of the guys at ID and in the end there is probably no studio I respect more for what they have done for gaming over the years and really..there is so much today that we can only thank ID Software for that people easily forget for some reason (invented the FPS genre, invented the shooter weapons that´s used everywhere now, invented multiplayer shooters, pushed technology in both 2D games on the PC and 3D games all the way to where it is now, coined phrases used in shooters e.t.c)

The video itself was uploaded a day or two ago by Romero with some new text in it that explains what we see. And its awesome on so many levels for me personally. Not only for the reasons I stated above and for the sheer treasure value of such a clip but I also takes me back to my childhood that for many nights could look exacly like the later parts of the video. A dark room, a friend or two, some laughing, some screaming, some Hard rock and DOOM !
The video also shows some stuff that is beyond awesome to see today. First off Romero is calling the "gibs" "bits" since it was recorded before he himself coined the phrase "gibs" that has since been used all over the place.
Its also cool to see such a superearly build of Doom as the one shown here. Wolf 3D soundeffects, lock ups, slow downs, glitches. Its all in there together with the "wow"s from the people experiencing the dawn of 3D shooters.
The only downside to it is that there is not even a glimpse of John Carmack, but hey, I take what I can get.
Man I could just go on and on with this. This half hour clip should be treated as a HUGE find for the gaming industry. Treat it with respect and then watch!

Yeah, I'd say this was a really awesome find.  Answered a lot of my old questions from my pre-internet days, and I got to see some alternate Doom level designs!
