    Only chaos

Based on the television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, this Indiana Jones game for the Genesis was in development as of August 1992, with the title Young Indiana Jones.

With outstanding graphics and a nice soundtrack, the controls are sluggish, which makes this game only chaos. There's also fall damage in a 2D game. Indy can even fall through a bridge, yet there's no fall animation.

You can stand on an iceberg, and it breaks, but if you throw a grenade at it, it doesn't blow up. Video game logic at its finest.

The enemies are nothing but annoying, such as monkeys that keep following you and jump all over the place like ninjas high on drugs, or birds that swoop down on you faster than Stukas.

The whip, despite being extremely flexible, is extremely hard to use, since you need to hit the enemies with the end of the whip. Not helping is the fact of how fast some of the enemies are. And although you do have a pistol, its ammunition is extremely limited.

Indy gets a very high health count, so he can take some serious punishment, otherwise, the game may as well end in less than 5 minutes! The irritating knockback can lead to a lot of cheap deaths and make certain platforming stages extremely frustrating.

Some of the levels are extremely lazily designed and consist of the same sections repeated over and over again:

    • If you failed to prevent the German spy to obtain the tech from the scientist, you'll fail the mission and cannot retry again.
    • To make things even more frustrating, each level is timed, even if you did defeat the German spy, you will still fail the level if you didn't leave it before the timer runs out.
    • In the Egypt level, there's an irritating sandstorm that blows you back to the start of the level. You can avoid getting blown back by hiding in holes but the bizarre hit detection can sometimes knock you out of the hole.
    • Stopping the German agents is pointless, as no matter how many weapons they failed to acquire, the Nazi's airship will STILL HAVE ALL OF THEM FITTED AND FUNCTIONING!

To add insult to injury, the ending screen is nearly identical to the title screen, with the only difference being that the sprite of Young Indy is missing on the ending.

This is nothing but only chaos overall and not worth your time.
