LV-426 is a lifeless planet that serves as the primary location for the first two films in the Alien film franchise. It has been featured in several video games licensed from or relating to the Aliens and Predator franchises. The planet is described as being a lifeless rock in the films. It seems to be constantly covered in stormy weather, and its surface is covered in uneven rock formations.
There are several structures on the planet that make it an appealing setting for different types of video games. The derelict spacecraft is a bizarre construct based on the work of H.R. Giger. This environment is intensely alien in nature, with strangely textured corridors and the signature "Space Jockey" set piece. The LV-426 earth colony referred to as "Hadley's Hope" is the planet's other point of interest. The set design used in the construction of the colony has become an iconic fixture in the video game industry. Numerous sci-fi themed titles clearly used this environment as inspiration in their level design.
