I've found that in the in-game manual, not nearly all available controls are listed, and it has generally become frustrating to find all the available controls, specifically as a new Madden player, who has no experience on the controls in previous versions. I found a couple of videos on the EA Sports Youtube channel giving tips on these, but it's possible there are more "hidden" controls to be found. In hopes of being able to compile a full list of controls available in Madden 12, I'm starting this topic.

Some additional controls (for PS3) I've found out about so far:

    • L2 + receiver icon: pump fake to the specified receiver. In the manual there is only L1 as a general pump fake.
    • L1 + L2: control the nearest receiver's direction mid-play with the right stick. Didn't find this in the manual.
    • In addition to leading the pass with the left stick, you can also push the stick up or down, in order to throw a "jump catch" or to throw a low pass at the receiver's feet.
    • Dive catch holding the square.

Here are the videos with some other tips as well:

Why oh why didn't they put all the controls in the manual? If you have other control tips or suggestions, anything not found in the manual, please post them here.

The dive catch is something that I've screamed at the T.V. for probably every game, would have been nice to know that. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, leading the receiver either behind or ahead is critical for completing some throws.

I knew about leading the receiver, but low/high pass should help my game out. Also, specific pump fake could be sweet.
