That's what the rumor mill is saying, because of a job posting.
Anyway, I'm not sure what to think of this. I've long thought that co-op would be neat, but I'm not so sure about anything competitive.
But whatever they do implement (if anything), hopefully it won't worsen the single player.
Actually, I'd rather that they just leave it out altogether, because I don't pay Xbox Live Gold.
Mass Effect 3
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Mar 06, 2012
When Earth begins to fall in an ancient cycle of destruction, Commander Shepard must unite the forces of the galaxy to stop the Reapers in the final chapter of the original Mass Effect trilogy.
Multiplayer in Mass Effect 3?
Nah, I don't think I want that, unless it is a completley separate thing from the main campaign. Maybe, you get to play as two Alliance soldiers who have to figure a mystery out. Maybe the Normandy goes missing in the intro and in the main campaign the story jumps ahead two years to when they're found, and then the co-op campaign can be two soldiers filling in that two year gap. Something along those lines.
" Uh yeah maybe, but the conversations and sex scenes would be kinda weird in co-op. "

" Contrary to popular belief, multi player does not make everything better. "Co-Op Good. Co-Op Good. Co-Op GOOD!!!
Multiplayer would be interesting, but i can only imagine how many bugs would come up. It would probably be better if they focused on the single player alone.
OOOOH HELL NO. For real, WTF.
Please god Bioware do not waste one second of your precious time developing MP code for ME3. Keep doing what you have been doing.
Sadly Multiplayer and -Co-op is just something they try to cram into every single game that releases now. Apparently no on plays video games alone anymore and we all want to play with everyone all the time.
Some games don't need to have multiplayer but they add it anyway. There's nothing wrong with it, aside from sometimes seeming like a giant waste of time. For instance the co-op on Fable 2. Completely pointless and not really all that well done.
I hope not. A good story focused single-player game should focus on it's single-player. The time and resources they put into an ancillary multiplayer mode could be used to further improve the single-player.
I'm with this young free spirited mind. I don't see why they should make a great singleplayer experience into a alright co-op experience. Multiplayer isn't a bad thing but I think it would hurt the main series. The point of the main Mass Effect trilogy is to tell the story of Commander Shepard, and the decisions you have to make with him. Adding co-op would mean putting everything to a vote, theoritically. But I dont know what I'm talking about I'm just a consumer." Contrary to popular belief, multi player does not make everything better. "
I don't believe multiplayer in M3 would be such a great idea. I can see where it would have had a good place in, say, the first game, but in the end of a trilogy, we are looking for closure to the previous events of the games. Multiplayer wouldn't be helpful if Bioware was to approach the game in a "closure-centric" way.
That, and if Mass Effect were to become a Halo-type multiplayer, I think I would scream. And not in happiness, mind you.

I think co-op would be an interesting development, but I don't think Bioware will spend the time to do it. It would be a better use of their resources to amp up the main game to be the best it can be--that would be far better.
well, I am not sure about that. I don't think that mass effect game is not difficult to defeat by yourself. if people would fight each other, then multiplayer concep makes sense. but this game is focused on mission which three should be working together, not fight each other. I think if Bioware will add it, the whole game will be ruined.
A: I want to unsee that cartoon
B: Mass Effect multiplayer, even if it was fantastic, would miss the point in such an epic fashion that my head might explode.
coop and something like dead space 2. deathmatch or ctf would be boring. also too many people would have excuse to say, oh look they are ripping off halo.
Wouldn't mind a co-op. If they do something like Spec-Ops where it's random characters doing crazy shit (collector ship) and not hindering the story's cannon then sure.
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised now that I think about it. ME2's control scheme does give way to never bringing the power wheel up. It wouldn't be an issue for a live setting and they can make a load-out menu to pick and set which buttons on the d-pad would activate whichever power you picked.
No, hell no. Multiplayer in Mass Effect would put a huge dent in the game for me, it has the potential to ruin the game all together for me. I'll copy pasta something I wrote in a response to this same question on reddit.
I feel as though if multiplayer was added to the game it would change what Mass Effect was. It wouldn't be a game that is all about the story, and engaging characters that you came to care about. It would be about getting a buddy and playing through cheaply designed levels and events made for two people.
Resident Evil 5 Co-op made the story seem cheap for me, and being a hardcore Resident Evil fan that was a bummer. I imagine multiplayer in Mass Effect to be a combination of the multiplayer in Resident Evil 5 and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, where achievements and games are built around having "bros" who play the game as well. The whole idea feels gimmicky to me, and I don't like it.
I really hope not.

You know, I think I'm coming to terms with the possibility of ME3 having multiplayer. But, maybe if they are doing multiplayer, they should do it like Quake or something.
I really don't see how co-op would bring anything good to Mass Effect. I want my ME games to have a straight up single player ass single player. No stupid changes to get coop to work. Competative MP could work better, but i'm still not really interested. ME's gameplay doesn't really fit for a mp game.
