    A mega DS shooter

Mega Man ZX is the latest series of Mega Man games, bar Mega Man Star Force. They were both released in 2006. The game is the 6th in the Mega Man series and features anime cut scenes with Japanese voice acting.
Mega Man ZX follows on from the Mega Man Zero series and includes the same game play.

    GAMEPLAY
The game works the same as Mega Man Zero, you decided who to control, you can be a boy or a girl, Vent or Aile, you control one of them and run left or right through all the different places in the game, it’s still a very fast game, lots of enemies has lasers flying everywhere you’ve got dodge.
In this game you get biometals, you start with model X, the biometal of Mega Man X, these give you powers to run faster, jump higher, shoot and let you wall jump off of walls.
When you beat the main bosses in the game you get half of a biometal, beat the other boss that has the other half of that biometal to unleash it’s full potential. Apart from the ZX biometal there are 4 other models you can collect, each with their own powers and abilities like hanging from ceilings, flying, swimming.

    GRAPHICS
The graphics are very detailed, each biometal suit has a lot of small detail in it’s layout to make it very different from the other models.
The backgrounds have a lot of detail in them instead of just being a dull sky backdrop, when walking on the highway you can see the city in the distance and a glowing orange sunset, the boss battles have very detailed backgrounds like crash sites with damaged, over turned cars.
And the rain looks as realistic as it could for a DS game.

    MUSIC
All the Mega Man games are quite renown for their amazing music and ZX is no different.
You get completely different music for each section in the game. On the main menu you get silent eerie music playing in the background, most area have Japanese techno style music, but all of them suit the area they’re in, like the forest area has bright cheerful music whereas volcano areas have more high tempo, intense beats. During boss battles you get a more menacing song, it really sets the scene for a dramatic battle.
At save points and teleporters you get a simple melody in the background.
Of course you probably won’t be listening to the music while playing, you’ll most likely be hearing explosions, enemies running around, Vent or Aile getting hurt or shouting.
The music is one very important aspect in Mega Man games, and it’s executed perfectly in this game, the music really sets the pace of the level and makes the game much more enjoyable.

    STORY
The game takes place 100 years after the events of Mega Man Zero, humans and reploids are both living in peace, also a sudden outbreak tuned most machine life forms like the reploids into Mavericks making some areas of Earth dangerous.
The was a massive Maverick raid 10 years ago were Vent’s/Alie’s mum died. (Depends on who you play as)
A company called Slither Inc. took it upon themselves to help the people of Earth against the Mavericks, unfortunately they just used this as a cover story to capture people with the aid of the Mavericks and turned them into cyber-elfs.
A rebel group called the Guardians knew about what Slither Inc. was doing and they decided to stand up against them and the Mavericks.

Vent and Aile work as transporters, they’re like delivery men/women. They work for their boss Giro, when they’re transporting Biometal to the Guardians, they get ambushed and the biometals take over their bodies turn them into Mega Man X and Mega Man Z.
The Guardians wanted the biometals so they can stop Slither Inc. There are 6 biometals, ZX, Hx, Lx, Fx, Px and Wx. You don’t get to control Wx, Slither Inc. are using the cyber-elfs they’re making to revive Model W and use it’s power to take over the world. That’s why you need the other bio metals to obtain their passwords and shut down Model W.

    OVERALL
I think this is a great Mega Man game, if you’re a fan of the series you definitely need it. If you like fast paced plat formers/shooters then I’d advice you get this. Although the story is very confusing if you haven’t played other games like Mega Man Zero, so if you don’t understand the story, just ignore it and just blow up some Mavericks. Of course you could read up on Wikipedia to get the low down on the whole picture.
Overall this is a solid game with a lot to do, plenty of missions and side quest to keep you busy, you can even go back and try and beat the bosses again to get a better rank, there’s plenty to do and lots to uncover so I say it’s a great Mega Man game worth buying.
