This game features a ton of stuff to do and lots of bad guys to kill in various fluid and gruesome ways. Imagine an Assassin's Creed game with collectibles that are actually fun to find a pick up, coupled with Batman style combat. Plus, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor lets you stab dudes in the face and neck area like "uh, uh, uh, uh, uh" and it's oddly satisfying.
I am a huge fan of all things Tolkien and LOTR. That being said, I found that this game relates to the source lore on a very minimum level, despite featuring the ring, sauron, gollum, a song about Durin yada yada yada, the general "feel" of the game and world does not - at least to me - any notable resemblance to the books / movies / whatnot. Having read the great reviews, I was glad to not be let down by this game. The story I could take or leave, but the game play is great, controls tight, and the difficulty curve is smooth. Slaughter Orcs, have a good time!I would recommend not doing too many side missions early on - there is plenty of story, so don't try and push through the whole nemesis system before progressing....
