The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
I just got the game for Christmas and to my big surprise this game does not have a language setting. I live in Quebec, Canada and the box I got is bilingual, written in English and French. Nowhere on the box of in the manual does it mention that the game does not support an english language setting. I think I'm gonna have to send it back to the store, but now that it is open, maybe they wont take it back. This really blows...
I dont know if its the same in the english version of the game but when I hear my orders / objectives, they either sound too low or muffled and to put things worst in the options, there is only one volume setting. This is really ridiculous.
If I could hear them bark out the orders in french, maybe I could execute them before dying (on casual). Reading the subtitles in this kind of game is not an option !
While I'm on the subject, white subtitles in a snow level is also ridiculous.
I live in BC and as with all of Canada all our packaging is bilingual, But my MW2 had no french on it anywhere. I did notice that the manual stated all customer service would be in English ONLY though
Update: After writing about this on the Ativision website forums (question section), I have been written back telling me to give them my address so they can tell me where I can exchange it for an english one.
dont know yet if it'll be a direct trade of sending it in but I will tell you more when I find out....
They got in touch with me but what they wanted me to do is this:
Send the game with the case and the receipt to their Los Angeles offices. And of course I would have to pay for the shipping.
So I decided to just let go. I thought they would have me flip it at a store or something. I'm not spending my crhistmas vacations going at the post office and waiting 2 months to get my game back.
well that customer service is pretty much par for the course, but they could have written what language the game was in on the (bilingual) packaging. Usually, when not stated, the default language is english...
maybe that would have taken too much space that was reserved to say :
- "No one is better at delivering jaw-dropping action moments than Infinity Ward" -Game Informer - "Infinity Ward est le roi de l'action renversante" -Game Informer
Which is in fact a pretty crappy translation ;) The standard quote would have been enough:
@CharleyTony: Hey man. Same thing happened to me. I bought the PS3 version of the game, and the pack was bilingual, which is, for every other game I've ever bought in Montreal, the standard.
Got home, popped it in, and it was all in French.
Head back to the store, the English copies of the game are printed ONLY in English, for some stupid-ass reason. Anyway, just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.
