    Monopoly Streets

Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Oct 26, 2010

Monopoly Streets reimagines the classic board game as a dynamic gameworld encountered from street level. As players buy and build up properties, they'll see actual buildings erected, styled in accordance with the neighborhoods' economic status.

    Good representation of the game

I have spent many an hour with Monopoly Streets. It is pretty much the only game my wife will play (outside of a couple of Kinect titles), so to include her in my hobby, we play this game often. You can look at the quick look to get an idea of the gameplay itself, I'll talk about my experience with the game.

I read the one other review on the site and wondered if he played the same game. The game works as advertised, the 3D look of the board is unique, and provides something fresh to a decades old game. So if you like Monopoly gameplay, then this is for you.

The custom rule sets allows you to cater the game to your liking. All good. You can use your own X-Box avatar to play the game, though the AI avatars are some of the most annoying digital characters you will ever see. Keep that in mind when/if you try to play single player against 3 AI competitors. The Top Hat kid is especially annoying.

Now the problem comes in the actual game itself. Alot of the fun from the board game is interacting with friends, joking, etc. Monopoly the game itself is a slow start, gets good in the middle, then drags on forever at the end. That is true with this game as well, obviously. Unless you change the rule set to a quicker game, it is going to get boring. It is going to suck when the AI gets a miraculous die roll to skip by all of your hotels, but it sucks when it happens with the physical board game as well.

Again, I see this is a faithful recreation of the board game, with some annoying AI characters. The game remains the same as it is with a physical board. If you can stomach the AI or play with nothing but humans, then pick it up.

There are bad games, there are terrible games, then there's this 0

Being a man in his 30s, I remember with great fondness nights spent with both family and friends playing Monopoly, but the board-game variety. Sure, most of the games ended with someone screaming out expletives and flipping the board, but it was fun nontheless. There's been a few different iterations over the years to try and recapture the board game in digital form and now EA have tried it again with Monopoly Streets. There've been many board-games that have made the conversion from board-game t...
