If you were a Band Hero, you might look something like this.
If you were a Band Hero, you might look something like this.
MSN has posted the first teaser trailer for Activision's Band Hero, but unless you like seeing pretty people bouncing around holding plastic instruments while Lily Allen is played, you probably don't need to bother watching it.

As expected, the game will be taking on more of a poppy, family friendly focus compared to the T-rated Guitar Hero series, which is obviously fueled by the power of Satan and shouldn't be played by anyone under the age of 40. The Band Hero trailer specifically mentions the following songs:

  • Taylor Swift - Picture to Burn
  • No Doubt - Just A Girl
  • Lily Allen - Take What You Take
  • The All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret
  • Jackson 5 - ABC

The Killers and Snow Patrol are also mentioned in the MSN story accompanying the video. Additional details make the November release sound an awful lot like the Guitar Hero 5 feature set, with Party Play and RockFest both getting mentions. Looks like it'll also be backwards compatible with downloaded content from Guitar Hero World Tour (which would also make it compatible with any songs you buy for GH5, if I'm not mistaken).

The game will be released on the 360, Wii, PS2, PS3, and DS this year. It'll be interesting to see if the DS game is entirely new and functional on the DSi or if this is just another song update to the tech built for the DS versions of Guitar Hero.

Okay, seriously, as vulgar as this sounds . . . could Activision just pull out already? This series is well beyond raped.

Fuck yeah! Gonna get on the drums and play No Doubt on expert plus plus plus! You have four bass pedals in that one.

On second thoughts, maybe not.

@FlipperDesert:
I picked up the No Doubt greatest hits pack for Rock Band, and the drum parts are surprisingly interesting. Some of them are downright HARD, too. I'm looking at you, "New". Although, "Excuse Me, Mr." is a bit frenetic, too.

Taylor Swift is really pretty- she's close enough to my age that I can say that without feeling all dirty and stuff.

Um...to make this related to the post, I know this game isn't for me, but couldn't they have did something else with those graphics. I mean, this literally looks like Guitar Hero but with Kidz Bop songs. Couldn't they have been bothered to make the game stand out on its own?

I had a friend complain a bit ago about Rock Band "stealing Guitar Hero's idea". I just always laugh at that story, so I thought this would be where to share it.

ALSO: Wouldn't it be Band Heroes? Band Hero would just be a game for those one-man-band cats - the ones with trumpets strapped to their harmonicas strapped to their knees and such.

Is Band Hero Activision's answer to LEGO Rock Band? Otherwise I don't get it.

Terrible music (ABC being an exception) on a terrible game engine? Oh boy, I'm so excited!

The songs are really gonna suck on everything bar the vocals. If they manage to pull that part off well, then who knows? It might be an interesting game.

For the first ever time, Im disagreeing with Jeff.
