Not as exciting as its title led me to be believe.

The bloodhounds on the NeoGAF boards dug up a blog focused on Northfield, MN, which ran a basic profile on the 20 game developers working at Monster Games. Monster, as you may remember, is the house that gave us Excite Truck back at the Wii's launch.

Apparently the team is "nearly finished" with its next project for Nintendo. But what is that project? Yeah, no idea. Here's what the original story has to say about keeping secrets:
Right now, the 20 employees at Monster Games are working on a top-secret video game for Nintendo. They’ve worked on it for two years and are nearly finished. The process is so private the designers must darken their monitors when the bottled-water deliveryman enters the office.

I'm having trouble pegging this as a simple sequel to Excite Truck. That probably wouldn't take two years and probably wouldn't need to be so hush-hush... though maybe they just like the super spy nature of keeping their water guy in the dark. About a year ago, the long-gone rumor blog run by Surfer Girl (we miss you!) posted an unsubstantiated bit claiming that this game wasn't Excite Truck 2, and that it might be an F-Zero sequel. Now that seems like something that might take a couple of years to get right, and something worth keeping secret.

Fingers crossed over here, as I would be interested to see an F-Zero sequel right about now. Or, I guess, sometime next year, which is probably when all of us--including the water dude--will get to see the fruit of Monster's labor.

My nephew and I played excite truck and had a good time with it. He said he liked the single player even though it was lacking, I never bought it. This has my attention, thanks for posting.

I sure hope it's F-Zero. Those games are awesome, and there has been a serious drought of awesome games on the Wii.

I doubt it's gonna be F-Zero but you never know right?

I actually really enjoyed Excite Truck.

Thanks for that little tidbit Jeff. I'm hoping it's a new F-Zero... something new wouldn't be bad either.

Personally, I couldn't care less about F-Zero. Could this be the Kid Icarus game everyone wants?

Or maybe a new IP?

I was the same. Excite truck makes me feel guilty for neglecting my wii. I got excite truck before I got my 360, and I really enjoyed it. Since I've got my 360 I tend to completely overlook wii games that aren't getting super high ratings. It really goes against my philosophy about game ratings, but when I'm in the store there seems to be a magnet that draws me past the wii section to the 360 section.

The thumbnail picture of Excite Truck is a fake mock-up of the game.

F-Zero might actually be a game I would buy for my Wii.
