Second Heavy Rain DLC On Hold

Thanks, PlayStation Move.

It's possible that The Taxidermist will earn the distinction of being the first and last piece of Heavy Rain downloadable content. Speaking with Game Informer at E3 2010 in Los Angeles, Quantic Dream's Guillame de Fondaumiere said that the second piece of Heavy Rain DLC has been put on hold.

Shake your fists at Move. Explaining, Fandaumiere said that Sony encouraged the team to work on the upcoming Move integration as opposed to the next DLC. As a result of the release timing, Fondaumiere believes Quantic will move on to its next project rather than bring people the other announced episode.

I love this guy, what-his-name.

Anything's possible in the videogame world, of course. Fallout Online is still coming despite a legal battle and Alan Wake managed to hit store shelves after a few hiccups. So, don't completely discount the prospect of more Heavy Rain DLC. But I wouldn't go on a hunger strike until its release, if I were you. You'll get mad hungry. Just sayin'.

I really don't see how move will enhance a heavy rain play through.

That sucks

Taxidermist took the thing in an almost survival horror-esque direction.

I think I'm happy for them to move on to their next project though. Horizon is the rumoured title.

fucking motion controls...

Not to say I was looking forward to more Heavy Rain but that's kind of lame.

I hope we atlest get an DLC episode, that explains all the blackouts Ethan was having

Heavy Rain attempted to add a specifically crafted style of immersion by making us hit buttons and move analogue sticks in specific ways. Unless they completely recreated the game mechanics, trying to simply translate this onto the Move would be gimmicky.

Moving onto their next project is probably the wise thing to do, if not simply just making new DLC content without Move (Sony, will you allow them?)

Sweet, glad I held on to this game for the non-existent DLC.

Yeah, they've been shady on the DLC plans in the past. Were they even making anything, seriously? I doubt. 'The Taxidermist' was already made as a presentation. Beyond that, though, it seems like they weren't planning on anything and are now just using this as the excuse. And, of course, this is a shitty excuse, as motion controls are completely lame.

I want this second dlc!
skrutopon June 16, 2010 at 8:50 a.m.
Let me see if I understand the series of events:

  1. Sony "encouraged" Quantic Dream to integrate Move into their DLC.
  2. The Move isn't being released anytime soon.
  3. QD decides to just scrap the whole thing and move on to their next project.

Does anyone else see a breakdown in logic?  Would it make more sense to, I don't know, just create the DLC without the Move support and THEN move onto your next project?
Impossibiliumon June 16, 2010 at 8:54 a.m.
Eh, didn't they already say there would be no more DLC?
modepson June 16, 2010 at 9:01 a.m.
Move and Heavy Rain are perfect for each other, but a bit saddened that there's no more DLC.
Winterwolf79on June 16, 2010 at 9:04 a.m.
That's a shame.

This is a motion controls fault.

Norman Jayden? Pshhhaw. He can't step up to pros like Francis York Morgan.
dezvouson June 16, 2010 at 9:54 a.m.
I'd rather have them integrate move and proceed to their next project that spend time on more dlc and not integrate move. The best part about Heavy Rain is easily the main game and I would love to play through it again with move.

Does the new dlc fix plotholes or bad voice acting?
EvanFavreauon June 16, 2010 at 10:33 a.m.
Definitely disappointing for those who wanted more Heavy Rain (though that's definitely NOT me).
