New Hero "Rock Howard"
New Hero "Rock Howard"

At around midnight last night, I decided to chute out and go to sleep. Up until that moment, I had been tossing around the idea of staying up for a couple more hours to download Garou: Mark of the Wolves from Xbox Live Arcade as soon as it was posted. But you know what? Sleep is awesome.

So I woke up this morning, sat up in bed, and immediately set about buying and downloading the game. And I was rewarded with a text description that really set the morning off right. Here's the mangled English you'll see when looking at the download description for MOTW:

It is the latest title of the Fatal Fury series [GAROU -MARK OF THE WOLVES-] comes to Xbox LIVE! With the New Hero “Rock Howard” who is only son of Geese Howard and rose up by legendary wolf Terry Bogard, story of the new wolves begin. It banned the traditional line-system but instead bring in the brand-new systems such as “Just Defense”, “T.O.P. In” and “Braking”. It is not only system which renewed but also all the characters are new comers only except Terry Bogard. Don’t miss the extreme battles of wolves!

It's maybe one step above machine translation. If you've been playing SNK games for a good, long time, you probably already have the tools required to appreciate such busted English. While a lot of localizers say they want to prevent another "All Your Base" moment with their translation work, sometimes there's just no substitute for barely legible nonsense.

As an added bonus, here is me reading said description. I just woke up, so these are the first words I've spoken today, in case you're wondering. Maybe I should shout this at the top of my lungs every morning, just to get right before the day begins.

Listen!

(PS: Good to see I'm not the only one with an appreciation for awesome things.)

I just woke up a little while ago, and then I realized this was the first thing I needed to check out.  You are correct Sir, this is indeed the best way to wake up.  I haven't seen a language butchered this badly, since my grade 10 "translator assisted" French project.  And by "assisted" I mean, I wrote the whole thing in English and hit translate.  I enjoyed the audio option as well, it only heightened the level of hilarity, well done.

I love the Engrish in the SNK games, and i love this game as well. Came out in a time where i had "moved on" from fighters (blasphemy i know) so i never actually played it, I didnt even know that it was all new characters except Terry. Its just as good as I always heard to be honest, it helds up great in my opinion. I love the ninja kid, whatever hes called.

And from a few matches online, the Ken syndrome is in full force, as all I have faced are Terrys and Rocks :p
