Namco Bandai Games held a press conference yesterday to detail today's Ultraman Festival 2009, a fan event for the Ultraman series. During the event, Namco-Bandai announced "Kaiju Busters", a new third person 3D action title for DS, where players face off against giant monster just like Monster Hunter series. Although here in groups of three as opposed to four.
Kaiju Busters
Players will find over 500 weapons across nine categories, along with over 500 defensive items. Stages span seven planets, putting players up against over 40 beasts. The game has a mission structure, with over 300 missions on offer.
The PSP is getting a MH knock off also, but that one seems to have good production values. visually it seems almost on par with Square's PSP stuff, and gameplay wise it clearly goes for a far more accessible deal than Monster Hunter. If it's good or shit remains to be seen.
Yea, I posted some news on that a little while back. In concept it appeals to be more tha Monster Hunter, it's more adult focused and I like it's art style. The gameplay is also said to be quicker than MH's according to the developers.
I like everything in that except the weapon designs, those look even more ridiculous than Monster Hunter's. And yeah, gameplay seems quicker and more accessible, but perhaps it won't have the same amount of depth for people who stick to a game as hard as Monster Hunter fans do.
