    Looking for something physical

I picked up this game in anticipation of olli olli world along with olli olli 2 . It was only $2.99 for the first and second game. I had played both games when they originally came out. I enjoyed them at that time. Replaying the first game was an exercise in masochism. I am getting older but i don't expect my gaming prowess to atrophy. Getting back into this game after 8 years had me laughing at how much I had forgotten. There have been dozens if not hundreds of games between now and my last play through. I got it all back and look forward to doing this all over again in 8 years.

The gameplay is fine though i think the grind system is a little clunky. It could use a speedometer so i can understand where i am achieving top speed and where i am losing speed. Some areas seem unreachable and are hard to discern if they are background art or grindable. A nice flyby for each level would be nice so you could see all the objectives before playing instead of essentially artificially doubling, or tripling the gameplay time because you had no way to anticipate what was coming.

The reset to start over is as quick as i remember the original tony hawk game. The increase in the amount of time to restart a level has been inconsistent throughout the series. This is partially why ive been come less enamored with the tony hawk series overtime. There is no manual system which seems like an intentional skip because of planned sequels. It's frustrating when you know omissions are based on future sales opportunities.

The new olli olli world does not as of this writing have a physical copy. I would have picked one up and will wait for a sale. Until then expect a review on olli olli 2 in the meantime. *played on Switch recently and originally played on Xbox One*
