Persona 4 Arena: Reviews Thread
Somehow, this reminds me of the relatively high scores Catherine got from popular gaming websites until GB gave it what for. For sake of comparison:
1UP gave the game an A. Destructoid gave the game 9/10. IGN gave the game 9/10. Game Informer gave the game 7/10. GamePro gave the game 8/10. Game Trailers gave the game 7.8/10. EGM gave the game 8.5/10. OXM gave the game 8/10.
I don't really care about reviews, but it's always nice to see high scores for a game you care about.
If this means more exposure/money for Persona and anime fighters then I'm all for it.
It would be cool if people picking up P4A based on these reviews ended up cycling backwards, watching the P4 ER and becoming dans of GB.
I wonder if any reviewers are going to approach the game as a competitive, tournament fighter.

That was Jeff, Patrick has said on multiple times on the Bombcast how much he liked Catherine. To that point, I'm very curious to see what Jeff's review for P4A will be.

Well yeah, Jeff was the official reviewer for Giant Bomb... right? And that's what I'm talking about; that's the score that counts on Metacritic. I'm aware of the cast's opinions on Catherine.
@Brodehouse: I wasn't actually expecting a Persona 4 Arena TNT, so I'm not sure that that's indicative of his opinion on the game. It could be.
@FluxWaveZ I think Jeff really doesn't like playing it, or he wouldn't suggest Tribes for TNT. You couldn't get him to stop playing MK or Street Fighter IV the week they came out. And yeah, it's probably because the 360 netcode is jacked. That's a really good catch. I totally thought P4A was locked in for TNT this week, but that's kind of telling if they jumped to a fast paced PC shooter.
Still, gonna get my copy in 2 hours.

I think it's more that they have the xbox version and the xbox netcode is messed up right now.
I have an easy solution for them that qualifies as an operating expense.@isnipeyoudie said:

Yeah I kinda feel the same as him, really interested in the story mode but I don't think I'll like playing.
I am still really conflicted about this game. I am huge fan of Persona 4 but I have never played fighting games. I keep hearing it's accessible for newcomers but I get the feeling I am only going to enjoy the story mode. Even if story mode is 20-30 hours it's basically a visual novel with fights to break up the text which is a tough sell for me at full price.
Not the biggest fighting game but love Persona and totally getting this for the story mode. Also a lot of reviews said that the combat is accessible yet deep so this could get me into more fighting games

What helps is the the challenges help set up what each character moves can do and how to better use them.
